Liliana Chachian

I’m from São Paulo, Brazil, but I have been living in London for 30 years and active in the music scene for 25. My work as a composer and singer has led me to collaborations, recordings and performances with a wide spectrum of artists such as brazilian percussionist Airto Moreira and Weather Report’s drummer Dom Um Romão.

Co-writing the 1st ‘Da Lata’ album (“Songs from the Tin”), released by Palm Pictures, took me on an extensive world tour over a period of 18 months, performing in major festivals including The North Sea Jazz Festival, Roskilde, Womad  and venues  ranging from New York’s Central Park Summer Stage to China, Japan, Canada, South Africa and most countries in Europe, with rave reviews.

With Negrocan, it was a privilege to co-write and perform on the three albums, as well as play in many festivals including Womad  and Glastombury, and several venues across Europe. Negrocan also had the honour of receiving a Billboard nomination for the single ‘Cada Vez’.

With The Pet Shop Boys, I toured Latin America, Singapore and Australia with their show “Discovery”.
Other collaborations include Masters at work (N.Y.), Yasushi Ide (Lonesome echo production- Japan),
Chieko Kimbara (Japan), jazztronik (Japan), Snowboy (London) , Joe Claussel
 ( USA ) and others.

The Royal Albert Hall, Ronnie Scott’s, The Barbican Centre, The 606 Club, The Royal Festival Hall, The Forum and The Jazz Cafe, are some of the venues I have performed in during my years in London with my band and with legendary brazilian musicians.

Now I’m recording and performing with my new project ‘Olumo’ and I feel extremely lucky to be sharing this  journey with such wonderful musicians and friends.
